What is it?
Interventional pain management uses precise, image-guided procedures to calm the exact nerve, joint or disc causing your pain. It sits between pain pills, which only mask symptoms, and surgery, which should be the last step.

Your physician will recommend the right option after an exam and, when needed, in-office imaging. Many patients combine a procedure with physical therapy for longer-lasting results.

It’s a medical specialty that uses precise, image-guided procedures — like injections, nerve blocks and radiofrequency ablation — to relieve pain at its source, without surgery.
These are well-established, minimally invasive procedures performed with imaging guidance. Your physician will review your health history and explain the benefits and risks of any treatment before you decide.
The skin is numbed first, and most patients describe pressure more than pain. Most procedures take between a few minutes and an hour.
It depends on the treatment and the cause of your pain. Some patients feel relief within days that lasts for months, and some treatments can be repeated. Your physician will explain what to expect.
Some treatments work in one visit, while others — like knee gel injections or a block followed by radiofrequency ablation — are done in steps. Your plan is built around your diagnosis.
Many procedures are covered by most major plans. We check your benefits for free before your visit. We do not participate in Medicaid plans.
That’s what your first visit is for. We’ll find the source and explain your options.
